Some things you should know before voting on November 4th, 2008
The leaders of “The Only Team” are the incumbents Supervisor Kathy Jackson and Treasurer Lynda Dew. How much have they cost you?
1) On Feb 8, 2005, Jackson and Dew voted to approve the PUD rezoning for Biltmore. The unpaid and uncollectible bills from the Biltmore project: $295,000
2) On Oct 25, 2005, Jackson and Dew voted to enter into a binding Lease Contract with YCUA to reserve future sewage capacity for the developers (no longer needed). Cost to the township that must be paid for absolutely nothing: $2,300,000 (Late breaking news as of October 28, 2008)
3) On Feb 8, 2005, Jackson and Dew voted to approve the PUD rezoning for Lombardo. The unpaid bills from the abandoned Lombardo project: $105,000
4) On Feb 8, 2005, Jackson and Dew voted to approve the PUD rezoning for the Phoenix River Park PUD.
Phoenix has since dissolved the LLC leaving unpaid bills: At least $20,000
5) Jackson, without Board authority and kept secret from the Board, agreed to waive the increased sewer and water fees for Lincoln Pines PUD required by the PUD agreement and by Ordinance. This is still under investigation, but costs to the township may be as high as $450,000.
Excerpts from an email to Supervisor Jackson forwarded to the Accounts Receivable Committee:
Developer: “I am not going to go into a long drawn out ordeal here, but You need to do what you said you would do. That is to take care of this invoice. (I hope I don't ever have to repeat what you said.)”
Jackson: “I'm guessing we should probably meet soon to discuss this matter, and just for shits and giggles we should invite Ken”. “The long and short of this is that if we had required you to pay the fees at the new rate, it would have cost you several hundred thousand dollars that you said you didn’t have.” “Until I hear otherwise, I will assume you don’t want to do that.”
6) Supervisor Jackson is the head of the Utility Department. Under her leadership, the Utility Department has operated at a financial loss for the past 8 years. Cost: about $500,000 per year
7) On July 31, 2007, the Board voted unanimously and without disagreement to terminate the employment of receptionist Jennifer Yancey based upon specific allegations of workplace violence corroborated by independent witness statements. The Board also voted unanimously to contest any applications for Unemployment Compensation. Yancey did apply, and at a subsequent Appeal hearing, Jackson testified AGAINST the township and also testified that the Board was divided on the issue. The township’s Labor Law Attorney informed us that this testimony was key to the township losing the Appeal. Cost: about $30,000
The sum of the above is over $3 Million dollars which does not include millions of dollars of losses in the Utility Department!
“The Only Team” also supports a Water Master Plan (not approved by the Board) that includes a $13 Million project to bring water to the EQ property on the southwest corner of the township. This water project is to support a huge condominium development of 1836 residential units. This was shown in November 2007 as a near term project to be implemented in 2 to 5 years. Contrary to this "Water Master Plan" report, no application has been received by the township. Secret meetings were held with the developers by Supervisor Jackson. This water project is not intended to bring water to existing residents that may need or want municipal water.
